Hell Robert Parish literally punched Laimbeer in the playoffs, knocking him on his arse. No foul. No ejection.

You don't com barreling into the lane like Lebron does now knowing that Rodman, Oakley, Barkley, or a role playing goon like Rick Mahorn etc. are there waiting to deliver a thump.

So explain to me how they were allowed to punch people on defense and not get called for fouling, yet gave up just as many field goals per game?

You would think if you were allowed to lay people out you would prevent them from making as many shots as they do these days when you cant blow on someone without it being a foul.
