I know we traded away a good bit of our draft for next year...what do we have left?

1st
3rd
4th

6th
7th

We could have the third or the fourth or both. Depends on Vilma.

It's an absolute mess..
It's too complicated to even assume..

The first trade was for Vilma who the Saints gave the Jets their 08 4th round pick for. If Vilma plays in 85% or more of the defensive plays the Saints give up their 09 3rd round pick and if he completes that step and is resigned the Saints then give up their 09 2nd round pick. With either of these the Saints will get back their 4th round pick in the form of the Jets 09 4th rounder.

With the Shockey trade the Saints gave thier 2nd and 5th (2009) for him if the Jets though get the 09 2nd round pick the Saints then give their 2010 1st round pick to the Giants for him.

That just sucks.

If the season is in the tank (not that it isn't already) do you see the front office/coaching staff sitting Vilma as to not give up too much for him???

As it looks now, if he stays healthy, Vilma will play every Defensive play all season.

I still don't understand this. Did the Saint's FO not think Vilma would resign or did they just hope he'd get injured?

So it seems significanlty improving through the draft is about impossible.

We can hopefully get a huge upgrade at S or a franchise LT. Possibly Aaron Curry a WLB. Plus we can add some depth at RB or CB.

well no matter what. we should have our 1st round pick in this upcoming draft.. which is important. if we lose a 1 it will be in 2010.

Who?

Bush, Grant, and Smith all have huge contracts no one will want plus Grant may be suspended for a good part of next season.

Colston maybe

Brees. Worst. Move. Ever.

Who else would anyone want? Not Shockman. Sign Vilma and deal him?

Grant could have been good trade bait.

Other than that we really don't have anyone to trade.. We'll have to build in free agency and use our slim picks very wisely.

It won't be so bad if our front office actually goes after some key free agents.

As long as we never, ever, ever pick a WR from Tenn ever again.

We need to make some cap room to have a chance at big FA season.

Shockey, Grant, Smith, and Bush all have huge contracts that aren't freaking earning.

Yeah the whole Shockey deal really screwed us in so many ways.. He's screwing us with draft picks and cap room. He's screwing us by being injured all year...

We really didn't need a tight end.. as you can see Miller is sufficient enough.. Hell we could draft a tight end.. Our offense is a very systematic offense which doesn't need big time players (yeah they are nice).. but we need to focus on some stud defensive players with our money..

I don't know his contract structure, but we might be better off pulling a Raiders to his MeAngelo Hall and getting the contract off the books.

It was a stupid pointless unnecessary trade from the start.

Also will people stop saying stupid shite about not picking Tenn WRs anymore? By that logic I guess you didn't think Dwayne Bowe would have been a good pick since Clayton was a bust.

It'd be nice to get a better #2 wideout. It'd also be nice to have some pass rush.

Meachem Mania! #2 WR the same as the number of receptions he will get this year!

The FO has an obsession with signing DEs to huge contracts so they can gorge themselves on McDonalds and get shitty.

I can't tell you how excited I am about Adrian Arrington.. Do not forget about this guy. He has exceptional ball skills.
