rewatching it with the wife now and just as good as I remember. Season 2 one of the best seasons of any show ever.

Agreed. I was so caught up with the dialog and performances the first time through that it never dawned on me that it was all shot in California instead of Kentucky. Had they moved production there and shot in Appalachia and had the budget to shoot it well, it would be considered among the very best.
I mean, it already is for me but I can see that kind of stuff holding it back for others.
