Know much about Cambridge, England?

Just got word that my daughter was awarded a scholarship to get her master's at Cambridge University, King's College to be specific. Exciting for her (and me)!! Bill and Melinda Gates finally helping me!
Her mom and her have already done a slight bit of research, but none here, I bet. Any knowledge of living, eating, etc in the area?
I look forward to spending a week or so there too within the next year.

Not a whole lot of insight other than it is stunningly beautiful when the weather is good. You should dedicate some time to learning the history, as you will enjoy the boat tour much more if you do so.
I remember there's a cool pub where lots of stuff happened - like with Turing and other notable figures retiring for beers daily after changing the world.
Congrats to your daughter! Must be one proud Poppa!

Congrats! I lived there nearly a decade. Know the city like the back of my hand.
What specifically do you want to know?

Headed to London and spending a couple of days in Cambridge to see the sights

Check out the hidden gems of the Round Church (Do their walking tour which gets you into 3 colleges which saves money and is the best tour in Cambridge), Mill Pond Pub (most tourists go to the Eagle which isn’t bad to pop in for the historic significance), get the best scotch egg at The Pint Shop, Gin Lab on Greene St., see the Wren Library for Newton’s principles of mathematics (his discovery of gravity), drink at the Fort ST George in the afternoon if it’s a nice day. I helped the Dean at Clare College get his job. It’s a beautiful college so visit there. Make sure to visit college chapels since it’s free most of them. You can request it with the Potters at the front gate. Just don’t sound like such a tourist, promise you’d like a quick look, and try to be witty.
Definitely visit King’s college chapel.

Looks like a cool place to live to me! I can't wait to visit.
Any advice on where/where not to live if there are such, as well any general advice.
I'm not worried about her learning her way around after she gets there, as she moved to DC when she was 18 to go to school and has been there for four years... so confident she'll be fine over there also.
And yes, proud I am.

Which college is studying at, because they provide student housing?
Are you looking for general advice for your daughters stay or yours?

She'll be in King's College.
I'm interested in both, but more so for her than myself.
As I mentioned, I know her and her mom are doing their research, but never know what nuggets can be found from my favorite source of inside info.
Or any other general info that you'd care to share. Good or bad.

Then Kings will provide housing. Coed housing normal.
Average murder per year is 1. Maybe 2
Theft is incredibly high. Don’t leave laptop to use the bathroom in cafe. Your bike will inevitably be stolen.
Incredibly pedestrian friendly so good walking shoes that will get wet.
Formal dinners are a must.
Train to London is 1 hour. She’ll get student discount.
Once in a lifetime chance for Christmas 9 carols inside kings chapel. Must do.
Take as many opportunities to walk along grants river to Grantchester, and go to The Orchard. Or have a pint at the Green Man.
Student services are very limited in terms of student counseling. The place is a pressure cooker and is not sympathetic to mental health.
She is a professional so get into a writing group that helps with keeping her accountable to finishing her dissertation. The problem is that the social life bleeds into her academic life and that’s when students lose their way and fall behind.
If your family is Christian then seek out Mark Smith, the Dean of Clare. Very trusted man and well respected and accessible. He knows what I’m talking about.
Beware of seasonal depression. Winter sunset is 3:45 pm and sunrise at 8:30 am. Counter that with exercise. Join a gym with indoor swimming. Join the row team.
I’ll add more as comes to mind later…
What’s her area of study? How many years will she be there? I know profs there.

That's great feedback, I'll share your thoughts with her.
She's an archeology student, seems to be really good at it, and loves it. She was part of a dig in Ireland last summer, and will be graduating from one of the top archeology programs in the country in May. Yes, still proud here.
