2011 Yamaha rhino axle change

I have to change the right rear axle now that the season is over. It’s in pretty bad shape. I’ve bought a replacement already. I’ve never done this before. I’m pretty handy and have the right tools. I’ve watched YouTube videos.
On a scale of 1-10 difficulty, how difficult would you say this is for someone who never has done this?

Its usually not to hard. I can do them on my polaris ranger in an hour if everything goes well. I have had problems with the little snap ring not compressing (inner spline). There is a slide hammer tool you can purchase to help with this.
I started squirting penetrating oil on mine ahead of time to help reduce this. (They get rusty and don't want to cooperate.)
Fixing to change another one soon.

Check the wheel bearing while you have it apart.

Notvon a Yamaha. The gear oil keeps them lubricated on most. Polaris doesn't and they are a bitch.

If it's anything like a grizzly should be easy. I would also go ahead and get the wheel bearing like said above.

Step one: buy a new axle nut.
Step two: look up the torque spec on axle nut.
Step three: eat your fricking wheaties baw
It's a pretty simple job, except for the fact that if you use a torque wrench to reinstall, you will very likely break said torque wrench

Now that I think about it I had to cut the nut on mine all off possibly. Been a few years though.

I got the axle nut off already. Took a breaker bar and 230lbs leaning on it.
Getting the old bearings out is a whole other beast.

Well dayum, 230ftlbs seems to high to me. I’d double check that.
If you watched a handful of YouTube videos you shouldn’t have an issue getting the axle out. Back is an easier job than the front to.
As for the bearings… Pop your seals out. Remove snap ring. Drive old bearing out the side the snap ring came from. Go back up in reverse. Don’t drive the new bearing in by hitting the center race, only outter. Put grease in the lips of both seals.

The axle was easy. The hardest part was the axle nut. I say 230lbs. That was me literally laying on the breaker bar. My impact wouldn’t turn it.
Now these bearings are something else. I beat on one for 30 mins with a 3lb sledge and a heavy flat head. Bent the tip of the flat head.

Get a properly set of punches.
Also... Retorque is 175 or so.
