Leaving what was an awesome game between two very good teams, my wife and I were right beside two guys on the exit ramps. One guy, 40ish w/ 2 kids and wife was running his mouth about the QB while another was defending him. We were basically in between the two. Not going to go into the details but they were jawing loud enough to be clearly heard over the crowd. It was a complete embarrassment. The wife of the guy dogging our QB was trying to get him to shut up. I eventually told him to let it go. Even Al Gore let go at some point.
Note to all tiger fans:
-You cannot throw the ball better than LSU's 3rd string punter, much less any of LSU's QB's.
-You are not smarter than the coaches at evaluating the talent on that team.
-You do not have any insight greater than theirs when it comes to subsitutions.
-You do not have a right to call another person's son who is playing for LSU derogatory names.
-You are out of line more than often than not.
Please realize that all of these young men were highly recruited and had many other opportunities.
So here is the situation:
-The QB has made some mistakes and thrown some interceptions. That's what freshman do. The interception returned for a td in Saturday's game included a 50 yard return. I can't put the return on the QB. LSU also a TD pass dropped and a 9-yd completion on 1st down dropped. Both of those were momentum changers.
-The UF game was not on the QB. That game came down to stopping Tebow on a 3rd and 3 when 80,000 "genius fans" new he was about to run. At that point the game was 20-14 and quiet. I was there; I know. So, do you put that on our DC's? I do.
-This team has a chance to be 9-3 and go to a decent bowl, all w/ a freshman QB who has the potential to be a true superstar.
-Our three losses this year have come against UF-Junior QB and Heisman Tropy winner, GA-Jr. QB that may go first in draft, ALA - Sr. QB. Notice the similarities. Look the BCS rankings. You see experienced QBs.
-Everyone calling for a different starter next year should remember their complaints if they get their wish and see that we are simply breaking in another Freshman.
And lastly:
If you must criticize feel free to do so, but direct it to the paid professionals on the sideline. You can tell the difference easily. The paid professionals do not have jersey's w/ numbers.

you've obviously never seen me throw a ball... I can kick pretty well also. my highschool long was a 48 yard fg (with room to spare)

I agree 100% Great Post.
LSU lost to #4 Florida, # 7 Georgia, # 1 BAMA. Not all gloom and doom!

Any fan that does this is not a true LSU fan.

Ok, I'll give you that but the typical fan cannot. Especially the mid 30's up family guys who report to an office, construction site, plant, medical office, courtroom, etc. on Monday through Friday.

high school football and college football are two entirely different games .. you obviously weren't good enough to play college football or you would have ..

Here's my thing:
Everyone thought we'd go between 8-4 and 10-2. Everyone casually ignored the gaping hole at QB, the timing effects that has on the WR's and TE, the fact that for the past FOUR years, our players have been catching balls from Jamarcus Russell or Matt Flynn or RP, and this year all three are gone, the fact that our all-world DL Glenn Dorsey is gone and that two other stud DL are hurting, the fact that our DB's are all experienced in practice but have little top-line game experience, a tough conference slate with 3 tough road games and 2-3 tough home games, etc...
Yet for some reason, people are now bitching and moaning because our QB isn't perfect yet, our defense isn't perfect yet, and we aren't 9-0 with 7 shutouts.
Seriously, which would you rather:
Be like 2006 Auburn and win 2 games against top 10 teams (UF and LSU, both BCS bowl game winners) and lose 2 games at home to unranked opponents?
OR,
Beat the shitty teams, beat the mediocre teams, and lose games to 3 teams that are currently ranked in the BCS top 10?
I'll take a 9-3 season with the potential for 10-3 and lose games to teams that are GOOD than go 10-3 and lose games to teams that are SHITTY.

At least we have not lost to Oregon State.
Think about that for a second or two.
My only criticism this year has been the handling of the defense by the staff. I was never sold on the Co DC thing. I've never coached football, but have been in business long enough to know that this is not a good situation. I really beleive that is going to change after this year.

I can live with that

You have to realize that everyone thinks they are a coach/referee. Just like during political elections, everyone thinks they are political analysts. Just gotta laugh and let it go.

Man, what an awesome post. I cannot think of any way better to put it. My hat's off to you bro.

I criticize the players, but don't blame them, as the coaches should get the blame. They are paid to do a job and are doing a shitty job at that. If this is the best we have, then either our coaches are overrated or our recruits are. I understand we lost a lot last year, but the qb position has cost us two games, that we could have won.

Great post
Like most Louisiana natives, I have been a lifelong LSU fan. I happened to attend and play football for a smaller instate school.
Went through some very tough years including a year in which we had double digit losses and our whole coaching staff was fired. The funny thing is, the current level of criticism being leveled at the current LSU team is greater than what was written about my college team.
LSU's current status is nowhere close to this, but some of our fanbase acts like it is.
We as fans do not realize just how good we have had it the last few years. If a 9-3 season and a potential New Years Day bowl is a "down" year, I will take it.

Thank You Sir, for saying that!!!! Finally a poster who "get's it." Lee's baptism by fire this year while painful to watch, will pay huge dividends in the future.

If we played them, we probably would have. Have you seen their little running back?
Do you not remember OSU coming into TS in 2004, the year after we won the NC, and we won by one point? If they had a decent FG/PAT kicker they would have beat us.

u cant put the Florida loss on Lee. But i cant definitely blame him for the Georgia and especially Bama
