Job offer - Am I just being stubborn?

I'll just share how i operate and make my career decisions. You need to figure out what your goals are going to be. Then it makes these decisions easy. Do you want to do more interesting work? Do you simply want to make more money, either to retire earlier, buy a nice house, vacations, etc., whatever it is. Do you want to climb the career ladder? OR do you want to make the most amount of money while optimizing time away from work?

Once you figure out these things then the decisions become easy. I have never taken a job for the money. Now i make good money, but its not always the most money i could be making. I personally value doing really interesting work, building companies, and doing high-value and intense situation work (restructuring, M&A, scaling up, etc.)

That being said, I would never, ever take a job that i turned down, simply because they raised the salary unless I thought they were just way under market. But salary has never been a primary driver of my decisions.

eta: I realize this is a luxury, to be able to make work decisions not based on money and very grateful for that.

I made a jump one time solely on salary (36% increase and I make a really good living anyways).

Worst mistake I’ve ever made in my life.
