We went with one similar to this one. I had been researching already and I wanted a timer as opposed to one that worked based on daylight.
Days like yesterday, it was dark outside and the sun still wasn't down and still had a few chickens running around.

Are there any on timers? The daylight thing wouldnt work for me. Anytime i let my chickens out before work at 6:30am, low light.. coyotes get some. As long as i let them out around 9am, when clear.. zero issues
