I've wiped my arse with a page from a JC Penny's catalog in an outdoor toilet in below 0 weather. My kids have never done that. Are we better for that?

Are we? Depends on how you choose to look at it internally. If you choose to see it as if you’ve given your child a better life than you had, then hopefully, you’re “better” as you have leveled-up your kids life.

Now, is your child better off? I’d have to say, unequivocally, they are better off. Teach them the values you want them to live by in order to be a good person, and hopefully they become just that.

They can still have moments in life that teach them things that doesn’t have to be wiping their arse with a magazine page in below freezing temperatures.

IMO…too many parents now are soft on their kids and want their kids to like them 100% of the time. Therefore, they rarely discipline, set boundaries, and say “no” when needed. This does nothing to help the child grow into a functioning adult, nor does it help the parent-child relationship.
