Someone mentioned earlier that F1 combines a lot of factors. Exclusivity, celebrity, exotic destinations/locales, and whatever DTS has brought. F1 also has heritage that Indy/CART/IRL/etc didn't maintain. Add in "premium" manufacturers and sponsors that have been around for years. The cutting edge of engineering and technology.
Bernie was a stickler for maintaining that aura around F1 and it does seem to help bridge into certain demographic that otherwise wouldn't care about autosports. For better or worse.
