Houston will be in the Big 12 starting next year, so they will be a Power 5 Conference team.
Still such a "meh" matchup tho.

As far as playing them at NRG, Houston's stadium doesn't have 40k seats. This just insures more people can attend. I'm fine with a neutral site game in Vegas, as I plan to go to that one. But Dallas? Nola? Orlando? Boring. Next.

FTR i am not much of a fan of this game, but it is not without positives.
1 - Decent team to be scheduled in relative short notice.
2 - Houston is a huge LSU alumni base and an even bigger recruiting base.
3 - Houston will be a Power 5 program at the time of the game. TV will be able to hype it in that light. And SHOULD be an easy win for the Tigers on a national telecast.
4 - TV money is where this sport has gone. Too late to complain about it.
