You're not convincing any elite basketball coach to come here when you just fired the most successful coach in decades over fear of what the NCAA might do and sanctions of some kind potentially coming down. It was a terrible situation.
Not defending Woodward because frankly he brought this on himself but did you expect any high end coach to be interested after he fired Wade citing NCAA fear of sanctions?
How do you think we ended up with John Brady after Dale Brown? Brady spent six years at Samford never getting to a NCAAT before being hired here because nobody wanted to follow Brown and deal with sanctions.
