Remember that anytime you cut a shaft you make it a little stiffer and the swing weight gets a little lighter. But shorter typically means better contact. I recommend keeping it like it is and then just grip down an inch for a few rounds and see if anything changes. Also, swing with the same tempo as you do when swinging with your favorite club. Most people grip tighter, increase tension and swing harder with a driver. Smoother and center face contact is where it’s at. I see it every day.
