I get that, but everyone knew about those taps and what was said and that got the NCAA digging for more. That is all it takes.

It’s like what happened to Freeze at Ole Miss before the whole escort debacle. He kept talking shite to the NCAA (admittedly worse than any public denials from Wade) about how they hadn’t done anything wrong and once there was more blood in the water, the NCAA went in hard looking for anything else they could find. That’s what they do.

The paper trail was death and he left it and didn’t even make it hard to find.

Right the tapes opened the door, I agree. And we can pick apart the decision or compare it to other programs who’ve done differently but firing him was justified. My thing is we made a bad hire and we didn’t have to do that. Even though we knew we might have to fire Wade hiring McMahon looked like we were unprepared and hadn’t even made an effort to vet candidates. Like we had nobody watching basketball to see who was out there.
