That's your assumption. Personally, I think the same thing happened to him that happened to Jarrett Lee. Threw a lot of picks and it messed with him. He's overly cautious with the football now. Being more comfortable with the coaching staff, gameplan, and his teammates leads to more trust which leads to more chances taken.

I don’t know why he doesn’t trust his receivers to make the play but when he did (Florida, Bama, against purdue) the offense was electric.
He’s just so scared to let the ball go into contested areas (hello auburn, Arkansas, aTm) that it actually hurts the offense. This isn’t the PAC-12 where receivers are always running seemingly wide open.

When did he throw a lot of picks? Right. His last year at ASU. Poor coaching made him do it.
