Good lord there are some insufferable counts on this board.
The welfare of the player is more important than how much you enjoy watching them play on saturdays.

It should be immediate eligibility for a) graduate transfers, b) coaching changes, c)rare instances of something like a mom or dad getting really sick and moving home to try to help take care of their family. Other than that it should require sitting out a year.

This isnt about welfare its about a bs narrative that kids couldnt afford cheeseburgers now they are trying to get million dollar contracts out of hS. AND you have tampering which should be a severe penalty if caught. Kids should not be able to transfer unless RS Sophmore or True Jrs without sitting out a year. The only exceptions is Probation, Coach dies or is fired, Or a serious family emergency or situtaion that requires kid to move closer to home. Otherwise the rule would be fair and stop all the damn tampering and prevent KIDS from making stupid flighty decisions based on tampering from agents, hanger ons and handlers.

quote:well, football is entertainment, and exists mainly because fans watch and pay for it, both in person and on TV.

Do we want the players taken care of? Of course.
But if your only concern is the welfare of the players, and not the welfare of the overall sport in general, you'll kill the golden goose.
Remember, ultimately it's entertainment for the fans, paid for by the fans.
