Demographic trends in East Jefferson plus an improving public school situation (especially if you are smart enough to get into a magnet) definetly thins the herd for these private schools.
Schools like Ridgewood always had meh academics and facilities, but they could offer safety and teachers who seemed to care.
If a kid is smart / talented, I don't see any reason for a parent to send that kid to a school like Ridgewood vs Kenner Discovery or Haynes, unless the parent just wants a very small school for the child.
Back in the 90s they also had a pretty good baseball program. I knew a few guys that played there.
