Uh, yeah. They chose it because there's a shitload of people driving down I-20 and they got a good deal on the land. I don't think it's about the people of Ruston, whom I know well because I'm related to a ton of them.
Ruston...the little town that wants to be more important than it is. I've never understood just what gives them a reason to be so snooty.

Natchitoches has a lot of history and some cool old houses,but not much else going on besides the college. Ruston wasn't even founded until around 1890 when the railroad went through, but it has a lot of money and is in a prime location. If I was looking for a weekend getaway I would pick Natchitoches. If I was looking for a place to live I would pick Ruston.

lived there 3.5 years in college. Never met any of the snooty people you talk about. Attended church every Sunday and worked in the admissions and housing office. Everyone was always more than polite and warm. Maybe it’s the other way around?
