I know it's just anecdotal, but I've been to Africa twice and know many people who have been - and literally nobody has ever had any trouble anywhere.
I just think going to Mexico is poor risk/reward.

I think it’s like going on a cruise, it’s what people with no imagination and no real sense of adventure do; they go to Mexico. And keeping in mind the amount of pure evil that’s always looming, I just don’t get it. 30 years ago, sure? Now? Go to Costa Rica or one of the islands.
