Most athletes have an overinflated sense of their own importance. Firefighters, the military, police, truck drivers, electricians, farmers, construction workers, etc., etc., all put their lives on the line everyday, for far less money and accolades.

Yes, those guys and gals are HEROES. Guys playing a game for huge salaries are not heroes. Lots of people have jobs where there is an amount of danger. Chemical and Oil plant workers, airplane pilots, construction workers, policemen, firemen, etc. face dangerous situations every day to provide services and products for us. They are heroes, not football players.
