Has anyone tried planting a wildflower patch in their yard?

Along the side of my house, the grass doesn't fill in great. Combo of my grass being bermuda and that area receiving sun for half the day and the soil pretty much being fill dirt. It is a long stretch going to the fence that is just a big bare brick wall you see when driving up.

I'm thinking of either trying to do a mini wildflower patch there to add some color or planting some native azaleas that may enjoy the afternoon shade.
