Thanks! It was a layer of dirty rust colored shite that came off when I rubbed it down with rem oil. I also didn’t have a waterproof case which didn’t help.

Oh yeah that’s a necessity. I’d have a different gun by now if it wasn’t for that waterproof case. I should have mentioned that in my original reply
