Starting the new year of 49 years old, 193 lbs, 5'11". I would like to lose to 185 lbs (which may be a bit optimistic) and sleep through the night better (which should be doable). I'll be running Strongville with the PPSA crew and also doing hard cardio plus abs in the rest days. I feel like not drinking at all for the month will help with my goals.

If you’re doing cardio, weightlifting and cutting out drinking, you will have a huge head start and won’t have to tweak your diet much to hit your goals, but you will have to tweak your diet.
If you’re not in a caloric deficit you will not lose fat.

I lost about 30lbs over 2022 even with casual drinking (just plugging the beers into MFP) and getting noticeably leaner and stronger. I have kinda plateaued in the 190-193 range the last 3-4 weeks though due to activity level dropping (it has been too cold to go outside and walk). I figure if I set diet at 1900 cals/day, 175ish G protein then lift 4x/week and hit the elliptical for 2 of the 3 rest days then I should get the results I want. I’d guess I’m currently in the 16-18% bf range and would like to ideally lose enough fat to get in that 13-15% range.

I know that 6-7lbs of fat lost in a month is aggressive but I figure I’ll just go hard AF, do everything perfect, and see what happens. The “don’t drink for a month” part is likely the easiest lever I’m pulling lol.
