A couple of years ago, some farmers that could not get their cane out left it in the field standing. They fertilized it in April and then cut it the following harvest. Was surprised that went well. But we also didn't have a hard freeze that year. I think the only mill closed is Lafourche, most are shutting down next week. A friend of mine saying they will finish on the 7th which is the latest they went in years.
