With Jayden coming back (think what you want about him, but he’s much more well thought of nationally than he is on this site) with 40 starts under his belt (will he be the 1st 5-year starter at QB in CFB history), the entire OL coming back, Kayshon and the 3rd year WRs being back plus the additions at that position, the emergence of Harold Perkins in the national zeitgeist, Wingo, Smith, and Brooks being back, etc…I think we’re gonna get a ton of preseason hype.
Not predicting we’ll finish there, but I’d be surprised if we’re not somewhere around 5 to start the season. Bama, Georgia, Ohio State will probably start 1-3, but we’ll be up there with USC, Michigan, and maybe Clemson for those 4-6 slots. And Florida State could be in the bottom half of the top 10 themselves. Teams with big brands, recent history, and returning starters, specifically QBs, tend to be the ones given the benefit of the doubt in preseason polls. Sometimes pollsters will factor in schedules and use their 1st ranking as a prediction rather than a power ranking like it’s supposed to be, but even then, our schedule sets up nicely.
***I am not predicting this is where these teams, including LSU, will finish. Just start.
