I think JD is pretty great in spots where he's throwing without really thinking too much. However, I don't think we can accurately rate Denbrock based on the limitations that JD present. I watch film breakdown after every game and the offensive scheme produces a ton of open WR's that are thrown to very late in their route, allowing the defender to recover. Also, JD is often hesitant and either takes the shorter throw OR doesn't throw at all.
The Oline had their moments but a lot is said about H=how JD's running ability helps them, so does him releasing the ball quickly and decisively. An Oline can only be expected to hold blocks for so long before they give. JD has had many plays where he's held the ball extremely too long. He needs to learn when to simply throw the ball away. His game would drastically improve if he became a throw-first QB. His athleticism helps him escape tackles but he never escapes pressure and keep his eyes downfield. Once he decides to move, its run all the way. He takes short gains in favor of bigger plays that are more explosive. Throwing downfield is a bigger part of the winning formula than many thinks. If a team presents no threat to throw deep, defense play the short routes and condense the field. Safeties come down and are able to assist in the short passing game, as well as in the run game. It makes it soo much harder for teams to run the ball.
Here's hoping to JD making a huge leap next season.
We have no choice but to ride with it.
