They get Damari we get Ricks. Kelly isn’t letting Ricks get away
Two things:
1) Bama has never had an issue with signing elite talent with no clear playing time
2) Kelly doesn’t have a say in what an impressionable high schooler does
Letting “x” player get away is overused in recruiting. You give it your best shot and the chips fall where they will. You’re judged by the overall recruiting success. See Hootie Jones and Jamal Adams.

Times have changed though. The days of sitting on Bama's bench for 2 years are gone. The portal has increased the impatience of kids to stick it out even at Bama.
As for Kelly he can impress upon the kids that if they go to Bama they mights sit and hit the portal and essentially waste a year or two of their career or come to LSU and have a chance to shine immediately, be a part of an up and coming program with a rich history of putting elite DBs in the NFL.
Lastly, LSU can negatively recruit Bama and Saban with him being old, tired and possibly retired in a year or two. The last two years he looks like he's worn out.
