When to buy airline tickets?

Looking to get some advice from frequent travelers here on when I should buy an airline ticket.
I’m looking at a flight in June from MSY to Seattle. Hopper and CC site say to wait until February. But the price of the flight keeps going up every few weeks. Still plenty of seats on the flight though.
Should I wait it out and hope there is a price drop, bite the bullet and get the tickets or some other options.
What say the TB?
TIA

I can't help with pricing or anything. I'm just here to say that I have heard nothing but great things with Alaska Airline, so it might be worth looking into them for MSY to SEA.
I am too poor to fly a lot, but I just start looking online and kinda gauge prices for a little while before buying. As suggested to me by someone else on this site, you can set a google flight search to notify you on price drops on a certain search. Let's say MSY to SEA june 2-5, 1 person. Set the notification on it and you will get emails based on it going up and down in price every few days or so.

With a lot of airlines, if you buy a main cabin fare now you can cancel in the future and use the refund to buy a cheaper ticket if the price drops. This is the case with Delta. I'd go ahead and book it now to lock in a price ceiling, then cancel, and buy a new ticket if the price drops materially in the interim.
