I can’t muster a whole bunch of give-a-shite about this swap.

One one hand, Griner should have known not to break Russia’s drug laws. Shes been there many times. Do the crime, do the time.

On the other hand, she wasn’t smuggling drugs, just bringing on some personal THC. Her imprisonment so far is penalty enough as far as I’m concerned, but of course, that’s for the Russians to decide.

On the third hand, it’s probably good for both Russia and the U.S. to get this episode behind us. If the Russians hadn’t invaded, and we were on a “peace-time footing” with them, this would have gone a lot easier. The US sending them about in exchange helps the Russians save face.

I probably would have let her sit, or worked a better deal, but it’s not that big of an issue. Time to move on.
