re: Would it bother you a M.D. requires you to call them "Doctor" outside of medical setting?

I call my MDs Doctor. Older or younger, it's a sign of respect that I hope they've earned.

Had a fraternity brother who's father was an MD. At Homecoming or something with parents involved, someone called him Mr Smith and he corrected them. It seemed pretty stupid at the time, and remains stupid ~40 years later.
