I think one must look at how such numbers were produced. Just the stats without context is misleading at best. Do the stats tell you how well he was a reading a defense or anticipating a blitz? He was sacked like 43 times. Is that not a program record?

I disagree at this point. the defense not respecting the deep ball helps them cheat up in the box shutting down the run. when you have a real downfield passing threat, you can't stack the box and play like a&m did.

So, what makes everyone here think Daniels won't improve in the areas he is lacking?

Daniels has already started 3 full seasons and over 40 games, if he can’t read a defense or throw the ball by now then he’s not going to learn how to in 1 off season. Daniels was a rental hold me over QB in a transition year. Jesus Christ some of you are stupid

I realize this is the thread for you guys to process love for JD, but it's comical when people state opinions as if they are fact. No one honestly knows how many games LSU wins this year with nuss at qb. What we do know is that he has a significantly more talented arm than JD and he isn't a statue as some make him out to be. There have been many QBs that managed games for a good season only to be pushed out but a more talented QB. But, carry on.

The box wasn't what made the difference, the lines were. JD's running ability took another DL's attention, which opened things up on the zone-based plays.

Our RB talent outside of Emery is pitiful and our IOL was pushed around all year. We schemed a running game through Daniels.

A really, really stupid take, but OK. JB could read a defense. So there's that.

Citation needed. He had more rushing yards than anyone else. At passing the ball - you know, the quarterbacks main duty - he wasn't second all time in anything meaningful.

Boutte ran for 50 of those yards JD got credit for. He also got 50 more when ga played prevent the final minute of first half.

He has been playing for 4 years . Still can’t see the field , afraid to throw , hangs on to the ball too long . Teams have figured out how to defense him .

People love to make excuses for JD like how bad out o-line was - but that’s just a flat out lie. He held onto the ball longer than any other QB in the SEC this year

He had his best season of his career by far here at lsu this past year.

His best season was his freshman season at ASU. He came close this year but he has better coaching and better players surrounding him.

How can you call that a peak when he tangibly improved as a player

Has he really though? Has he improved on reading coverages? Throwing the ball away when your WRs are covered or even throwing up a catchable 50/50 ball? I just haven’t seen progress. At this point he is who he is.

i'll be honest and say that I wrote nuss off after the southern game.

it looks like he really put in the work and came off the bench ready to roll. he looked MUCH improved and played with a sense of urgency.

It could be argued that he has peaked,

LOL. Nope.

He improved a lot this year from last year. Until ARKY introduced the defense that can slow him down, he was still improving. An offseason working on that defensive scheme with his WRs will do wonders.

Williams is a walk on level talent who will be exposed without JD and Cain is bigger and very slow.

There are no bell cow SEC backs on this roster except apex Emery (which we never got, sadly).

he progressed this year and balled out in a 3 game stretch. then he regressed a lot not pushing the ball downfield and wanting to tuck and run.

he was sacked 3 times in one half saturday night.

He was on 1 leg as a mobile QB. He shouldn't have played given how hurt he was.

williams is more talented than what some people think. he's shown that this season. best RB on the roster.
