Interesting USC/TCU/OSU hypothetical

I see the logic to TCU ahead of Ohio State because TCU’s one loss came in a extra game they earned whereas Ohio State did not.
However…. Why does the same not
apply to USC?
Hypothetically, what if USC had lost by 1-point to Utah in the Pac 12 Championship game?
Are two 1-point losses to the same team worse than a single 22-point loss?
Is a 22-point loss to an undefeated team at home worse than two 1-point losses to a single 3-loss team (away and neutral)?
would two, 1-point losses to a single 3-loss team be >=< to a 1 point loss to a 4-loss team
and a 3-point loss to a 2 loss team? (For you Bama fans)
Along the lines of the TCU 1-1 vs KSU with a net +7….what about the reality of USC 0-2 vs Utah with by an avg 12-point difference vs OSU 0-1 vs Michigan by 22?

One of the Fox radio analysts said Utah did us a favor by taking out USC because they don't have the "NFL" players on defense to go against UGA

They weren't lying. To be honest in watching that game, I was concerned that Washington might have accidentally killed one of the secondary had the two played.

You kind of negated your argument by asking what if USC only lost by 1. If they did only lose by 1, I think a very strong argument could be made for them still making it. However, they didn’t only lose by 1, they lost by 23 points! Also, that was their 2nd loss of the year. Ohio State AND TCU, while both losing their last games, only had 1 loss. You would have a stronger argument for Bama over OSU being that they only lost by a total of 4 points and both on last-second plays! I think the committee got it right, even if both TCU and OSU get dominated. They proved it on the field!

2 losses is worse than one loss. Is that really the question you asked?

This was a purely hypothetical question based on the idea that TCU remained ranked third and ahead of Ohio State based on the idea that TCU’s loss was in an extra game.
Just talking points, I am in no way advocating for USC.
