I need some by yesterday. My question is it really available everywhere. Or it going to be a search.

FMJ I know is common, but soft point?

I been sitting in my stand with my sks with fmj and realized I don't want to shoot through a deer and lose him.

Thanks in advance.

The 123gr PPU roundnose softpoint are usually easy to get online. They’ve always shot decent for me through my SKS, ARs, and bolt action.

If you can't find soft points usually hollow points are readily available. I know it is not ideal but honestly even a jacketed bullet is going to take down anything you are going to shoot in Louisiana.

Barnaul makes good soft points.

I've ordered them

I've also ordered the 8m3 frangible bullets if you can fine them. They destroy the hogs.

Not only do you not want to use fmj because it is much less effective than expanding rounds, it is also illegal to use fmj for game animals in most states.

Soft point ammo is readily available. I like Federal Fusion, S&B as well as any ammo loaded with the Barnes TSX bullets. One year I hunted extensively with my 7.62x39 and killed 7 animals with 7 shots. 4 deer including a big 9 pt, 2 pigs and a coyote.

7.62 x 39 is not often considered for deer but it is a great, underappreciated round for 200 yards and less.

Yep.

One of my kids rifles is a 7.62x39.

Kills game dead under 200 especially. Very deadly.

Thanks for all the replies...like I said.. I Didn't want to shoot through the deer... looks like this round of deer hunting is over. Only saw deer... bad weather makes canoeing to my stand difficult.

I wanted to use a WWII rifle, but my old eyes ain't what they used to be. So I picked the sks due to it being a shorter rifle with those big old iron sights and I only had fmj to take.

My mosin... that front sight is wayyyy too far away. Until I find a mosin m39 that is...

I may take the British mk4 to the range and see how well it does.

The k98... out... man you need go 21 year old eyes for that one.
