False equivalency.
It’s not about selling books. It’s about the process of capturing a candidate then that candidate becoming a puppet. Selling books is only a step in that process.
With that said, I know it’s difficult for a politician with zero personal wealth to turn down such attractive offers.

Yeah OK how about Trump running the LIV tourney through Bedminster or Kushner getting $1bn investment from the Saudi sovereign wealth fund to bail him out of his shitty Manhattan real estate deal. They both just cashed in.
Spare us the narrative that Trump, with his long sketchy history of questionable business dealings, is really above it all because he isn't.
