Just a week or so ago almost EVERYONE on this board was convinced he was a shoe-in

One bad week erases everything he’s done in less than a years time?

Doesn’t make sense to me. Clearly there are other (maybe even better) candidates, but to erase him from contention is fricking stupid. They won the SEC west, beat bama, and have a shot at an outright SEC title when before the season, people completely wrote them off and predicted a sub 6 win season

The internet is a stupid, fickle place

Basically, what y’all are saying is that unless you win it all, and go undefeated, you don’t deserve to be ‘coach of the year’. Why not just hand that award to whichever coach wins the playoffs?

Bro, I love Brian Kelly and think he’s gonna do HUGE THINGS at LSU once his culture is fully in place. He’s had an amazing year and should be in the running for SEC coach of the year:

BUT

Dykes is about to take TCU to the playoffs, a program many thought dead after Patterson. And he’s undefeated. He’s earned it

You keep repeating how petty and fickle the internet is while being the only one showing homerism towards Kelly. Why would the final week of the season not be factored into a coach of the year discussion

Again, he’s done a great job but there are others more deserving. Not sure how else to explain it

You sure about that?

But wasn't his season basically judged off 2 games (Bama,OM) before last week?
And also came unbelievably close to being 7-5 this year

Expectations for LSU were 7-5 or 8-4. You are saying if you outperform expectations by one or two wins you should be the coach of the year? Consideration, yes, but he has not done what Dykes has done.

Heupel had essentially the same season as Kelly (except he won a big one on the road) and you are fine with nobody mentioning him. Why?
