Just making the playoff will be a major deal to some schools just like making the NCAA tourney is.
They will hang banners and have a parade. This is good for the overall product of college football.

100%. OM would have made a 12 team playoff twice in the last decade. We have virtually no shot at a 4 team playoff. The top 4 won't play the first round anyway and 5 vs 12 shouldn't be a complete blowout. That will be 2 great weekends of games in the round of 12 and the round of 8.
