If you have a family trip with 2-3 kids, stopping to charge on a 5-10 hour trip doesn't take nearly as long as people think. You're going to stop once or twice usually to eat, bathroom, etc.

This obviously isn't perfect science as traffic could be different, but we do an annual ski vacation and the drive is 10 hours. We've done it twice in the midrange Tesla and one year the snow was pretty bad so we took my wife's Grand Cherokee. We always time our trips, the Grand Cherokee trip took us 30 minutes longer than the other 2. For a 10 hour drive, it's really not THAT much longer. Or at the very least, not much longer than a lot of folks would think. Like you said, you're charging while you eat at 1 or 2 stops, and then the other 1 or 2 stops factor into the additional 30 minutes.
