Exactly. No one I know gives two fiddler's fricks about New Orleans. Also, I was raised a "bayou" cajun and somehow was able to penetrate the uppity fence just fine.

This. If anything, I hear more New Orleans people bring up the subject between the two cities. Lafayette people are just glad New Orleans is far enough to not have to bring crime to their area.
