How many people does Chicken employ to maintain this beautiful cesspool?
Does Chicken and his staff build and maintain the underlying software and web code his platform operates on?
You all are comparing apples to oranges
Message boards use established software and incredibly user friendly tech stacks that they then host and troubleshoot as they arise. And on a much, much smaller scale(this site has maybe a couple hundred active users a day, Twitter has millions).
Twitter is developing and maintaining the underlying stack, debugging, hosting, moderating, and maintaining it across a number of platforms and internally developed apps across numerous other OS’s across the world.
But there is one thing the comparison evokes, which is that unlike here, Reddit, or any run of the mill phbb board, Twitter is like one giant global message board updating in real time. Like if 100’s of millions of people all posted on the OT. And unlike those other platforms, there is no built in self-moderation pipeline. Which becomes problematic when you also rely on advertisers
