How much would a loss to Georgia in the SEC Championship game hurt the Tigers in the CFP rankings?

With a loss to Georgia LSU is out of the CFP.

Depends on just how bad and if we play UAB or aTm tight games.

Who cares at that point.. I’m sure LSU would still get a NY6 bowl depending on how bad they got beat.

Win all 3, we’re in.

Lose any of the next 3, we’re out. Pretty simple

At that point, does it really matter?

To answer your question.. they will definitely fall behind Alabama

Don’t think it matters at that point! I think they are sugar bowl bound if they lose

If LSU loses in the SEC championship game AND the SEC only gets one team in the playoff, then it is entirely possible LSU would miss out on a NY6 Bowl.

The Sugar Bowl is obligated to take the highest CFP ranked team NOT in the playoffs. That would probably be Tennessee. After that, the Orange Bowl could take an SEC team. If so, they would likely take the next highest ranked SEC team. A loss in the SECCG would mean LSU would have 3 losses on the season. So is there a scenario where the CFP committee ranks two a two loss Alabama ahead of a three loss LSU? Maybe so.

If LSU loses the SECCG the better outcome for LSU's purposes would be for the SEC to get two teams in the CFP (Georgia and Tennessee) that would give LSU a much better chance at a NY6 bowl (likely either the Sugar or Orange Bowl)

If everything else stays the same they should just swap LSU and USC. They really shouldn’t fall far losing to the #1 team in their home state.

Wrong answer. It does not depend on how we play or anything other than the fact that we lost to Georgia, which would give us three losses and render us effectively out of the college football player championships. That is the definitive answer.

We would not be in the top 4 so that is all that matters. We would end up 10-15 ish
