McCain and Romney are two of the most milquetoast establishment candidates to ever run for president, yet both were vilified by the media when they ran. And since then, the media has only become more militant and partisan.
Please.
Once Romney and McCain won the nomination they more or less stopped seriously campaigning because their money backers had guaranteed a satisfactory outcome either way.
McCain spent more energy bashing his own base for lampooning Obama than attacking himself.
Romney, outside of one debate, was practically napping through his campaign.
Now the media is back to loving both and they have more than proven just what sort of creatures they were in the years since.

What does any of this have to do with how they were treated during the campaign?
