Candidate quality matters -- underlying dynamics are not strong enough to drive bad candidates to victory.

How can this only be true for republicans?

By every objective measure fetter man and Hobbs were all time worst candidates. One had a stroke and the other refused to debate

So how is it only true for republicans?

Because it’s relative. Fetterman and Hobbs are longtime politicians, and relative to the average Dem candidate, they’re pretty typical. Meanwhile, Oz and Lake are trying to be Trump 2.0 in states where regardless of the circumstances, Trump lost in 2020. Why try it again in 2022?

Republican voters actually care a lot more about the quality of their representatives.

Democrats only want power, so whomever gives them the power, animal/mineral/vegetable, they will vote for that thing.
