You are dead wrong about this......I have spoken to a number of band directors (college and high school) who said the band's sound improved under Roy's direction. My ears are not qualified to make that judgment, but I'll trust those who are trained professionals.

I’m literally a trained professional musician who was marching and playing in the group at the time, but I’m not a trustworthy source because as a full-time engineering student I liked not having to work as hard for my $1000 stipend even though I could see the culture being created was detrimental to the band as a whole? Kick rocks!
