Avoid Gulfport (unless Bayou View, Bayou Bluff, private school) & Biloxi (unless Back Bay, private school).
Ocean Springs & Bay St Louis: great downtown atmosphere & restaurants, good schools.
Pass Christian: Great school, beautiful public grounds & park, good restaurants (few though)
Long Beach: Best school, a few good restaurants, quiet community, property is scarce, live close to Railroad for easy access to beach as there’s not much there and you’ll be going to the other coastal destinations often.

I Live in Long Beach. It’s a nice quiet small town with a handful of things around. You’ll find your self going to Pass And Bay St Louis alot for entertainment which is fine because they are all within 15-20min driving.
We do private catholic school but the schools here are definitely the better ones in the area.
It’s a great family environment and pretty much anything you want to do is within 30min driving.
NOLA is only an hour if you want to do anything there. I can be on Bourbon from my driveway in 1:15
