re: What was “the incident” at your high school?

There was a big fight at Senior Week in Wildwood, NJ with the class ahead of me. One kid was picked up, and the people sho picked him up we’re going to carry him out of the kitchen and off a 2nd story balcony. He grabbed a steak knife from the counter, flailed wildly, and caught a kid right in the heart and killed him.

Most of the class was at the party, friendships were ended depending on perspective and trial testimony. It was a sad time.

Junior year at Penn State, my ex wife’s identical twin sister was at my apartment as she was dating my roommate, my ex was studying abroad. The news came on, and she went white when the lead story ran. The news was John DuPont killed someone on his farm with a helicopter shot of the barns. My ex grew up on the DuPont estate, her father was DuPont’s horse trainer and farm manager. We thought he had killed their father with the initial reports. Later we learned it was Dave Shultz. But, in the era of no cell phones, it was very tense few hours not knowing what was going on.
