quote:No. It is interesting. I will try to read the decision sometime this weekend, but it appears to be based upon Georgia statutes.
I can’t believe Hank hasn’t chimed in how this is nothing.
The question of "standing to bring suit" is generally a state law issue, and the answers will vary from state to state. This decision certainly gives clarity on Georgia election law.
It is unlikely to have much (if any) effect in any other state.
I have said from the beginning that "heads should roll" for violations of election law. My primary difference with prevailing Forum orthodoxy is that (setting aside punishment of perpetrators) I just don't see how these lawsuits can change the results of PAST elections. They may well get "bad guys" fined or even jailed, but the structural problems will persist unless legislatures fix them.
Texas made some changes and plugged some holes, though the legislation COULD have been more far-reaching. Other states also made a few changes. I don't recall that ANY of them really FIXED the big issues, the largest of which was unrestricted mail-in voting. Therein lies the problem for 2022 and 2024.

As an aside, anyone who posts the sarcastic “no standing” -type comment is simply demonstrating a complete lack of understanding of this concept.
