it is the home team’s press box and they extend the courtesy of allowing visiting coaches the use of their facility at their discretion and LHSAA and NFHS guidelines

press boxes usually have a mix of people in them, some official and some unofficial, including HS students and kids. the home team has the right to deny access to the press box for the visitor if they act in a way that causes them to forfeit their access. if the home team coaches use the press box, then they have to offer it to the visitor as well but the home team can force the visitors to leave if they violate NFHS code of conduct.

I saw a very tense situation in an open room press box where the visiting coaches were on one end, the home coaches were on another end and a home team parent was on the PA in the middle. The visiting coaches were very loud and demonstrative talking about schematically attacking a home DB that was the son of the PA guy. one of the loudest visiting coaches was TOLD to leave, not asked and he complied. but it was very tense and ugly for a while

radio has to get permission from the home team to use the press box and I have seen instances where the radio crew was outright denied access to the press box or denied the permission to broadcast by the home team.

profanity in an open press box is an easy one, that is like going to someone’s place of business and setting up in the front and yelling profanity even after they ask you to stop. too much macho BS and not enough sense
