From a story by Tom Dodge of THE EUNICE NEWS:
Collins Takes Over As Bobcat Top Rusher
Those who follow Eunice High football for the past four years have watched Tyler Collins perform amazing feats as a running back.
Last week against LaGrange, Collins became the Bobcats career rushing leader with 2,696 yards.
Spencer Aucoin, who played at EHS from 1998-2000, held the previous record at 2,608 yards.
Collins gained 1,136 yards as a junior and has 926 yards through the first seven games of this season.
His career started slowly with only 69 yards as a freshman and he gained 565 yards during his sophomore campaign,
“I learned the plays and getting my steps down,” Collins said of his time watching as a freshman.
“I always wanted the ball in my hands and wanted to score touchdowns,” he said. “I have loved playing since I was three years old.”
Working hard and doing the little things well is what Collins attributed to his success on the field.
“I come out and get a full track workout on the weekend and then come back to practice on Monday and do it all over again.
“I want to do better than I did last year,”
Collins has scored six times this season after scoring 12 times as a junior.
“I am very proud in setting the record,” Collins said. “It is an honor to be the all-time leading rusher in the history of Eunice High.
But even with the record, Collins said his goal is to help the Bobcats win.
“I don’t look at is as pressure,” he said of his job. “I just do what I have to do to get the first down or the touchdown, whatever we need.
“We still have to push harder and keep fighting,” he said of the rest of the season. “We need to get better each week.”
Collins said his favorite high school memory was last year’s game against Sam Houston where he ran for 199 yards.
“I am working on gaining 200 yards and also breaking the single game rushing record of 256 yards.
LSU, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Missouri, South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia Tech have all shown interest in Collins.
Collins said he has unofficial visits planned to LSU and Texas A&M.
“He is the best running back I have seen over the last six years I have been coaching,” assistant coach Brett Simien said. “His work ethic is very good - he is here early and stays late.
“He works hard in the classroom and he is not a discipline problem.
“He wants the ball in his hands,” the assistant coach said. “But that is what a winner does.”
“He is very explosive and runs low and hard,” head coach Paul Trosclair said of Collins. “He has good speed but he also breaks tackles.”

He is the same size as Walker from Mamou, maybe shorter(!), slightly bigger, and not as athletic.
That should give you a good idea. Like Walker he is a very good HS RB though.

Then you dont keep up much with high school football or at least Eunice high football, I am an EHS alum and live in Lake Charles and know who this kid is. I played with Spencer Aucoin the guy who held the record, and i can tell you that guy was a bull. Didnt have the dedication of TC, its good to see it go to someone hard working like him. I know that he list some pretty high profile schools but i dont think hes big enough or fast enough to play for any of those schools.
