People need to request to comment on the agenda item. I’m not sure the procedure but some cities require you to notify them of your intention to speak on a certain item well in advance. Someone smarter than me should look up the rules to comment on an item for the metro council and post them here.

It’s important that the mayor, council and parish attorney know we don’t trust them anymore more and they need to resign. The ones that signed the NDA all need to resign. They were part of the scheme to mislead the public and siphon almost $40 million from the citizens with no transparency.

They ask that you inform them of your intent to speak on an item in advance of the meeting. it kinda helps the meeting flow and finish on time. But you are under no legal requirement to do so as a member of the audience.

When they read the item, Lamont will say "Ladies and Gentlemen, this item has been requested to be deleted by the Mayors office (or Parish Attorney).

He will likely want to open and close a public hearing very quickly, but theres no legal way they can stop someone from speaking as long as it is germaine to the item being discussed. If you go up there and mention other grievances, they will cut you off.

That's how they removed Gravy all those times. He never stayed on topic and just went off.

Stay on topic and you will get your 2 or 3 minutes. Once the public has said their part, Lamont will make the motion to close the public hearing.

At this time, the councilmembers will have their turn. You can bet every one of them will use their allotted time to tell their constituents they were unaware, blah blah blah and try to deflect that they nearly got hoodwinked.

Then someone will make a motion to delete, it will get a second, and it will disappear.

I agree with the above poster that the District itself needs to be rescinded. If not, at any time they can sneak this "fee" thru and there's little anyone could do about it. Removing the district adds a needed layer of public trust at this juncture. My 2¢.
