If that’s the case numb nuts then why did he beg Myles not to transfer! I swear y’all people are something else!

When Kelly took the job Brennan was already in the portal. Johnson would enter it shortly thereafter. And Nussmeier had already decided to sit the rest of the season, including the bowl game where he would have started, in order to preserve his redshirt and keep all options open in the event he wanted to transfer elsewhere in light of the fact the staff that had recruited him to LSU was now gone. Also, Daniels was NOT in the portal at that time. So, essentially, BK was having to recruit a QB for this year's team. Brennan had not transferred elsewhere yet, and given his long ties to Louisiana and the LSU program, he seemed like the most logical place to start that recruitment.

Brennan ultimately decided to stay. As did Nussmeier. LSU was probably prepared to go forward with those two and Howard...until a 3 year starter at ASU (Daniels) entered the portal. He presented something to Kelly that wasn't available when Kelly initially recruiting Brennan to stay. Significantly more experience than any other QB on LSU's roster, as well as a running threat. So Kelly brought him in. Had Daniels been in the portal when Kelly got the job it's possible (maybe likely) he never tries to get Brennan to stay at LSU.

This may be true, but I think he still would have reached out to Brennan to build whatever depth that he could.

Thanks for clarifying that timeline. It would be hilarious to watch all of the comments by people speculating with no clear understanding of the situation, if it wasn't so sad.
